Believe in yourself.

"Do not listen to what anybody says to you at this point because they are unlikely to say anything helpful."
-The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

When you're doing something new and different that has not been tried before or something that people are just not very familiar with, you tend to get a lot of negative feedback and people try to discourage you from continuing to do it. Its just that some people are apprehensive and do not want to take up new challenges and try to discourage others as well.
At sometimes you cannot avoid these people but you can certainly choose how you respond to the negative feedback. You can either give in and give up or continue to believe in yourself. To be successful you've got to believe in what you do and you should use the negative energy to your benefit, and become even more determined to prove those people wrong.
So stop worrying about what other people think and say to you if you know what you are doing is right and truly believe in what you are doing and do your best. :)

  1. Believe have the power to open the door of success. When I first start blogging many people comment negatively as they don't understand it but now they show me as example of self employed person. I just feel happy and it remind me my old days. :)

  2. I'm glad you've stopped by to share your experience with up. A lot of people still don't know what blogging is and why I'm wasting my time surfing the internet.

  3. Part of the problem is that when you start doing anything new, you assume that most everybody knows more than you and you end up taking in too much information without any way of filtering the good from the bad. It is better to set your own course and stick to it but hard to feel any confidence to keep you going.

  4. Setting a course is difficult when you are new, so you learn through trial and error. The most important thing is not to give up.

  5. I recently had to stand up for myself to someone who was close to me because they didn't understand how someone could make money on the internet (I'm a freelance writer). They thought I was just fooling around on the internet all day instead of trying to get a job.

I finally had to break it down to them exactly where I was getting my money from and who I was working for before they grudgingly accepted that what I was doing could be considered "acceptable work".

I think it's a problem of perspective most times. They are not doing it or have never heard of it therefore it is not possible. Until you prove it to them, it's like you say, you have to ignore them and do your own thing despite what they may say. :)

  6. I've come across people like that. People think how can you get paid to surf on the internet when I don't!
Its mostly their ignorance or rather their know it all attitude that is the root cause of the problem. But if you cannot change someone else its better you accept their limitations and modify your approach.

  7. When people have opinions about what we are doing, we can listen but if those are not constructive suggestions, better to ignore. We just need to be clear of our objectives. To quit my day job and work from home is a huge decision. Although not everyone supported the idea but I took their ideas all in and consider what to be done to make things work better. We just need to know when to stick to our plans and do it. ^^ All the best.

  8. other than just believe in what you do, you also need to know what you doing.. sometime people say something negative not because they want to discourage but maybe what we doing actually totally waste of time.. so if there are negative comments do reevaluate, if nothing wrong just trust your self :)

  9. Thats right, you should consider others opinions but the final decision should be based on your own judgement of the situation.

  10. Most people are very wary of trying something new. This is the very reason there are only few people who succeed in this world. :-)

  11. Thanks for your comment. I think success is another thing altogether. Although effort is one of the important things that influences it.
