Yes! I finally decided that its time. I'm hosting this blog on BlueHost . I got a fairly good deal, $4.95/month for a 12 month plan with unlimited space and bandwidth. Sounds cool, doesn't it? I had a bit of a trouble installing wordpress but managed to get through fine with some live chat support. I had to use Opera Mobile 8.65 to be able to use live chat 'cos all versions of Opera Mini don't with live chat. There is some error in the Opera Mobile 10 beta 2 which kept changing the text I typed into gibberish so I had to fall back on Opera Mobile 8.65.
Finally with wordpress installed I was able to view the blog in Opera Mobile, Opera Mini 3, but Opera Mini 4.2 and 5 beta 2 kept displaying an error message that page cannot be located. Finally late in the night Opera Mini 4.2 was able to load the page nicely.
After all this was done I wanted to install some plugins but I kept getting errors with the installation and had to find my api key from wordpress.com. Finally I've managed to install some plugins today and have also installed the pixels theme. Its been a very busy weekend. How was your weekend?
Weekend was pretty average. It was 42C yesterday and the same today. At least tomorrow we will have a cool change.

I'm just starting out a self hosted blog without any previous experience, so the setup was not very pleasant but its been a learning experience.

ReplyDeleteYes I agree, but you don't have to wait for someone else to sort out the problems, you've got to do it yourself. I'm still experimenting with various plugins to make it perfect.
And you are flying high.. nice simple look. I am sure bluehost would be able to manage atleast 3k visitors per day :)
